Knob Creek Rye is known for its full rye whiskey flavor, which carries over in this new variant of the Dear Agony series. Rich notes of chocolate, caramel, and vanilla melding together with the sweetness of the 9-year aged white oak barrels.

Bottle pour from the brewery. Opaque dark brown, nice viscosity, trace lacing. Aroma is lightly peaty malt, rye spice, roasted malt. Taste is strong mix of roasted/peaty malt, dark fruit, milder vanilla and rye/bourbon. Smooth texture, soft carbonation, finish as taste w/out signs of alcohol.

Bottle shared by tfontana. Aroma of weak vanilla, mild oak, light booze. Soft cake batter with a bolder Knobb Creek character. No alcohol burn at all. Extremely approachable!

2023 500mL bottle shared by tfontana on 1/11/25.
Dark mahogany, undetermined clarity. Deep garnet highlights. Tan ring of bubbles.
Wow, that smells a lot better than the 2022 Buff Trace. No big prune/raisin/plum. Soft chocolate and mildly spicy bourbon with rich caramel malt and hints of warming. Light vanilla, light wood. Quite nicely-balanced.
Soft, malty, nicely-attenuated, still getting that warming, but there's fudge, caramel, vanilla, raisin and rich, spicy, strong bourbon. Sweet, but attenuated, not syrupy, not too alcoholic. Mellow and flavorful.
