Trevlig.

Bottle from the Waitrose at Gloucster Road. Pours light, bright gold with a foamy/fizzy white head. Aroma of yeast, spice, herb. Med + body - likely due to the impressive carbonation. Flavor is bubble gum, anise, yeast/spice, but no identifiable fruit ester. Maybe the flavors aren’t particularly strong, but they are hard to ignore. Think there’s a phenolic aspect towards the finish. Nothing wrong here, it’s just that the flavor is a bit off the Belgian median. Works.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - golden with a nice fluffy head. Nose - oranges and dry herbs. Light yoghurt. Taste - more tangy orange, dried herbs and light spice. Palate - medium bodied at least with a creamy yet tangy texture and a long tangy dry finish. Overall - substantial structure considering it’s only 6.3%.

Live rate on 23rd Feb 2015: not a big fan of Du Bocq brews usually, but always fair in my scoring. 33cl dumpy bottle: BBD 22rd Apr 2016, poured into a Duvel glass and shared with no one. Huge (Duvel like) white head on top of a slightly hazed golden body, carbonation bubbles rising through the beer. The nose is on the spicy side with a mild orange trace and a yeasty feel. The taste is similar with a good bitter bite to the whole thing: a lot better than I was expecting to be honest. Credit where credit is due, this is a fine Belgian Blonde and would hold it’s own against many of the ’upper echelon’ brews within that sub-style. I would have no problem offering this to guests during a Belgian tasting evening.

Bottle at home shared with Sarah. This was a Christmas present from Sarah’s grandparents. Clear light golden coloured pour with a lasting frothy white head. Some lace. Aroma is earthy straw, orange and coriander, light honey sweet and some mixed spice. Flavour is composed of semi sweet honey, light earthy straw, light spice, coriander. Palate is very highly carbonated, semi-sweet. Carbonation attacks the tongue. A little lingering metallic note.
