Described as 'liquid bread' in olden times, this Doppelbock has bags of malty character, one we hope the Germans would be proud of.

The Creature of Doom comes calling with it's malty sweet smile but it's dark intentions...

High Wycombe House Warming. Almost clear amber beer, good cream colour head. Smooth palate, modest fine carbonation. Smooth malts, mild creamy sweetness. Dry bitterish seltzer. Dry esters, fair bit of banana. Spicy bitter floralness. Smooth semi dry finish. A little hard edged but okay.

Bottle shared at Colinโ€™s. It pours hazy deep ruby with a small beige head. The aroma is rich, very bready, fruit cake, stewed fruits and earthy action. The taste is dry, bitter, chewy malt, booze, peppery spices, leather, resin, alcohol heat with a dry, boosty finish. Full body and fine, prickly carbonation. A bit rough. Fair.
