Cask at Craft Holborn, 07/08/14. Black with dirty tan edgework. Nose is roasted malts, dark toffee, chocolate, light spice, woody notes. Taste comprises brown sugars, spice, boozey notes, molasses, roasty tones, dark malts, chocolate. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a trace of warming alcohol and subtle BA vibes. Solid offering, me thinks would have been a touch better on keg.

Cask at Craft Beer Co Covent Garden. It pours near black with a sturdy tan head. The nose is dark chocolate, scorched earth, jam, dark fruits, berry, vanilla, toasted coconut and roasted malt. The taste is smooth, rich-roast, coffee, salted liquorice, light spice, rocky road, marshmallow, dark fruits jammy PX, wood and mild acidity. Fullish body, soft carbonation and viscous mouth-feel. The PX adds a bit of jammy dark fruits to it. A tasty brew.

Craft Holborn. Cask. Opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Palate is smooth and a little dry, fine carbonation. Tangy dry dark malts. A fairly bitter mid with a touch of wood. Back end brings mellow dark fruits and a touch of sherry. Light dry finish. It’s tasty but lacks something to give it drinkability.
