Cask at Craft Covent Garden. Aroma is earthy, nutty, chocolate, bit of smoke. Taste is interesting, meaty, ham, rich and roasty, chocolate again, boozy warmth. Feels quite slick and smooth. Interesting.

(Draught at Mother Kelly’s, Bethnal Green, London, 23 Apr 2015) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with liquorice, espresso and oak wood. Malty, roasted taste with notes of liquorice, coffee, oak wood, sweet sherry and a generous roasty bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Well made imperial porter with a gentle sherry touch. Very nice.

Keg at Mother Kelly’s. Dark brown / black viscous pour with a lasting mid tan head. Aroma is huge, booze, vanilla oak, woody, sharp apple, little creme caramel, bit of funk. Salty. Flavour is composed of dark roasted grains, salty, tart raspberry and tangy apple with oak and vanillans rounding it out nicely. Really complex interesting beer. Booze on the tongue is subdued. Palate is medium full and tangy, moderate carbonation. Long lingering duration of sweet caramel and sour fruit. Like a raspberry and chocolate sweet. This is a really surprising beer. The first smell was telling me I really wouldn’t enjoy it, but it came good.
