Tasting at Chez Bruce. Thanks to Sri Idol Smith. Almost opaque dark brown beer, tiny bubbly tan head. Smooth light palate, semi dry. Lightly tangy dark malts. Whisper of smoke. Tangy dark fruits. Little unsweet dark chocolate. Light semi dry finish. Mild smoky linger. Not bad.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to Leighton, 28/05/14. Light black with a well appointed tan covering. Nose carries big roasty tones, ligh charr, vanilla, dark malt, earthy. Taste comprises earthy cocoa, dark fruits, toffee, lighter level of roast maltings than the aroma suggested, liqourice trace. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough stout.

Bottle shared in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours deep brown with a webby, khaki head. The nose has milk chocolate, subtle roast, some toasted peanuts, dark fruits. Light sweet flavor with notes of ash, tar, overarching roast, some tangy dark fruits, earth, cocoa. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet finish, some toasty dark malts, ash, tobacco, a bit of hard water. Nice stuff. Good elements.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours darkest brown with a medium tan head. The nose is rich, roasty, dark chocolate, earth, cake, treacle, dirt and light sweetness. The taste is smooth, roasted, toast, plum, raisin, candied peel, prune, toast, light earthy and sherbet? with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not bad at all.

Cask gravity at Fullerians Rugby club beer fest. Dark brown caramel, slight haze and nice steadfast creamy head. Aroma is berry fruits and roast barley. Flavour is berry fruity yeast esters, choc and earthy toast. Some alcohol presence. . palate is slick and some sweetness.
