Draft at Pigs Ear 2013 - London. Pours dark brown with a bubbly, tan head. Burnt meat in the nose with burnt marshmallows, too. Light sweet flavor, quite ashy, with old cigarettes and earth. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Charred malts to finish with more ash and tobacco. Somewhat one-dimensional but decent if you’re a salty old dog who likes his stout gritty.

Pigs Ear. Opaque black beer, bubbly tan head. Palate is light and dry. Very modest carbonation. Mild dark malts, no roast or bitterness. Strong grey smoke. Dry finish. Strong smoke linger. Too smoky.

Cask at Pigs Ear ’13, 05/12/13. Light black with a moderate tan covering that clears to a swirl and edgeing. Nose is smoked malt, cocoa, brown sugars, dark berry fruits, smoked gammon. Taste comprises smoked malts, earthy cocoa, brown bread, tar, medicinal tones, brown sugars. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasty conclusion. Good smoked stout, maintains enough stout qualities for me to class as such.
