The current rage in American craft brewing, a Double India Pale Ale. In our version we refer to it as an East Coast style of Imperial IPA where malt body and sweetness can be discerned with a heavy hand on hop character (unlike those West Coast brewers version of overly hopped beer). Loads of Palisades, Glacier and Mt. Hood hops are used. Original gravity of 21 degrees Plato and the hop bitterness is massive.

GBBF Day 3. Hazy amber beer. Small pale cream coloured head. Smooth palate. A rich and sweet IPA. Rich tropical fruits - mango and pineapple with lesser orange and lemon. Light hop spice. Riding alongside all this (as identified by Harrisoni) is a vibrant tangerine jelly. This whole hop shooting match in underpinned by sweet malt cream. A belter!

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 6/10/11, as Molotov Hoptail Double IPA

Aroma: It had a nice hoppy aroma with some pine, orange, and malty notes too
Appearance: The pour is a somewhat cloudy amber color with an off-white head
Flavor: The taste is mid-sweetish, with a slightly heavier bitterness to it
Palate: It had a good mothfeel, it finishes fairly dry, with a creamy body, and average carbonation
Overall Impression: Overall, I found this to be a pretty decent DIPA. It wasn't anything exceptional, but it was rather tasty. Out of all the beers I got to try at Mad Fox, this was definitely one of the better ones.

Draft. Woah. This Double IPA was top notch! Poured a clear, slightly orange/dark-yellow color, tiny head when arrived. Aroma was a solid wallop of pine, hops, sweetness - not overpowering, but it certainly is there. Great balance between the malts and hops on the taste and palate - hoppy but countered at every turn with a good dose of sweet malts. I savored this one quite a bit.
