Gravity cask at the Last Heretic, Burton-on-Trent. Mid-gold, flat with a barely discernible white ring of head. Slightly juicy hoppy scent, with a suggestion of hay. Sweet fruity taste with more bitterness in the finish. Thin to medium body with lingering orange peel in the aftertaste. Decent but could be so much better with some added ’oomph’.

Cask pint in The Pheasant, Wellington Shropshire. Not a lot going on in this fairly bland beer. Clear golden pour with a full white head. Boring blend of hops and light malts with neither showing any real dominance or character. Disappointing.

Cask at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell on 1st August 2014. Hazy gold with a thinning off-white film and scant lacing. Inviting hoppy, yeasty aroma. Bitter hoppiness in-mouth with a solid, satisfyingly bitter finish that intensifies, seemingly with each sip. Fair amount of body and engaging mouthfeel.
