Another trip through the looking glass hand-in-hand with our adventure buddies at Half Acre Beer Co. On & On Part 3 is the quantum result of both paths taken – a standalone pale, sweet component and another dark, roasty component spent time in separate barrels before rejoining and blending into a Stout fluent in the language of Barleywine -- combining the sweet, complex depths of aged malt without losing the shadowed primal note of roasty warmth.

Medium brown, no head. Big aroma, with lots of fruitiness, toffee, assertive wood, quite raw. On the palate, it’s big and burly. There’s sugars and rounded stone fruit that calms things down, at least a little bit. This doesn’t hit as strong as you’d think.

16 oz. can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is strong, with lots of oak, light vanillin, medium roast, and some subtle, burnt dark sugars. Flavour has lots of burnt sugars, huge oak expression, medium roast, some vanillin, and alcohol that's integrated well. Exceptionally oaky, finishing moderately sweet, with heaps of wood and vanilla. Excellent.

Can. Had no idea this was 16%...well, here we go. Pours a pitch black hue. A big boozy nose, roast, vanilla. Sweet malty, like a dark barley wine, molasses, vanilla, hot bourbon. Cocoa. This is really good. Yeah the heat is there, it lingers in the finish.

Black with a medium sized foamy beige head. Boozy with dark fruit, anise, whiskey, a bit of dough and some rubbing alcohol at the end. Very long finish. Full bodied.

Wish it was a barleywine like last year but it comes close! Stout blended to be similar to a barleywine was the idea I think, and it hits the nail there. Sweet raisiny notes + chicory chocolate vanilla boozy malt notes. On point as always from rev.

Can shared with the family. It pours like motor oily... darkest brown to black with a dissipating tan cap. The aroma is super dark roast, rich, plenty of umami, liquorice, molasses, touch of marmite, bourbon soaked oak, rich, charred, burnt toast, cacao nibs, vanilla, toasted coconut and heady notes of booze. The taste is firmly dry, bitter - sweet, dark roasted malt, charred oak, burnt toast, umami, liquorice, molasses, cacao nibs, premium dark chocolate, tannin, nutty, praline, slick, thick, toothy, spicy, warming boozey vibes, rubbing alcohol/almost vodka character, bourbon, dark chocolate ice cream, vanilla cake frosting and some toasted nougat with a warming bourbon finish. Fulsome body, fine carbonation and oily mouth feel. A beast of a beer. More savoury than sweet. Good depth.

Rated at Platinum Beer Lounge - Viikki Branch HQ. Sweet syrupy and heavy with some barley wine notes, toffee, caramel, prunes, figs, raisins and bourbon. Intense and quite heavy, but a bit thin body.

Can thanks to Mike. Pours a dark brown with small beige head. The aroma is dark fruit, chocolate, roast, booze. Slick body, toffee, roast, boozy, very nice.
