Chelmsford Summer Beer Fest. Cask. Almost opaque dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Sweetish dark malts. Sweet and spicy esters. Touches of malt cream and coffee. Tangy ripe fruits and mild hop spice. Rich and tasty but for a CDA really needs some semblance of hop punch.

Handpull cask at the 2016 Cambridge Beer Festival. Dark brown with a small foamy off-white head. Clear. Low aroma of liquorice and some meaty notes. Tastes sweet at first - my throat is bedeck’d with liquorice - before turning to a more salty/bittersweet note. Far from perfect but worth a try if you’re at the festival this year.
