I'm Not Dead is a decadent imperial stout, and is the foundational beer used in our BOYD series in its un-barrel aged state.

You've probably heard the advised rule of thumb for cooking with wine (if you wouldn't enjoy a glass of it, don't pour it in your food), and the same logic applies here: we loved the base of BOYD enough to release it on its own.

When it comes to Imperial Stouts, body, finishing gravity, hops, bitterness, and flavours (think: dark and milk chocolate, coffee, caramel, molasses, etc) can vary wildly from stout to stout, making them the beer world's most rewarding adventure. This one veers firmly into chewy (we like body), rich (we don't skimp on oomph), and toasty (mmm roasted malts) territory.

Foundational IS of the BOYD series, this Imperial is a great celebration of depth, balance and richness. Solid elements of chocolate, roasted malt, burnt butter, molasses and american hops. Mouth feel is slick but not as sticky as some of the BOYD series. A great dessert sipper or fine on its own

A deep dark stout with a thin lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, light bourbon barrel notes, woody notes, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, bourbon barrel notes, alcohol warmth, very nice. On tap at Lupulus.

Dark brown with a thick head. Chocolate, fruity, soft body. Lots of dark sugars. Comes together decently well but does seem like it wants a bit of extra. I appreciate that it’s a very good beer begging for treatment… that is rare quality.

Thick, black color, no head. Aroma of dark sugar, light roasted malts, figs. Thick mouthfeel, very sweet, almost syrupy; flavour of brown sugar, molasses, some roasted malt, dark fruit. Not very complex, but it's the kind of Imperial Stout I like, sweet and thick.

500ml on the Alouette campground shared with Alex on his campsite. Appearance: brown with a dark beige head. Aroma: dark fruits, molasses, some brown sugar. Taste: along the same, very sweet with some smokiness, quite thick. Overall: interesting, this one is quite sweet and thick for the ABV, not sure how it's achieved. The only thing thick like this with the similar ABV was Bell's Expedition Stout.
