Bottle shared at Herr Schmitt’s gaff.thanks to Paul. Brown hazed pour with light tan head. Aroma is mineral Belgian phenols, raisin, and caramel. Flavour is nice rounded sweet caramel, nutty raisin. Really well rounded malts. Raisin. Good. Effervescent light alcohol bite. Really good.

Bottle shared at Garbage Night II - London. Many thanks to Paul. Pours clear brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose has nice dark malts, burnt candi sugars, aged dark fruits. Medium to big sweet flavor with a bit of alcohol punch, rich dark fruits, Belgian yeast, toffee, bread. Full bodied with fine to average, massaging carbonation. Lightly warming and sticky-sweet to finish with rounded aged fruits, dark berries, figs, toffee, rich bread, toasted candi sugars. Delicious. Excellent balance. Very authentic.

Bottle shared at Leightons. It pours darkest brown with a medium beige head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, candy, earth, dark fruits and fruit cake. The taste is roasty, toast, candy, dark fruits, plum, fruit cake, spice, light alcohol, raisin, vinous aspect and brown sugar with a smooth finish. Med-full body and fine, prickly carbonation. Smooth, good depth and we’ll-balanced. Very well done.

Bottle from Dram Shop, Sheffield. Cola coloured. Minimal, tan coloured head. Sickly sweet aroma. Odd, granulated gravy character. Taste is tart. Brown sugar, too. All a bit odd. No cohesion.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Dark brown body with a medium off-white head. Light lacing. The aroma is quite medicinal with notes of TCP, charred wood, prune and alcohol. Flavour of smoke, prune and blackcurrent. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Average carbonation. A tasty beer, but for me it is eclipsed by the depth and complexity of their Christmas 2013 beer.

Bottle from scopey as part of secon European local swap. Very dark brown color with small beige head. Strong alcoholic, medicinal aroma. Taste, dark malt, coffee, ripe fruit, coffee, yeast, booze. Not bad, but too much alcoholic and unbalanced.

Bottle, from The Highland Bottle Shop, on the train from Inverness to Hereford 21/10/13. Extremely dark mahogony brown vergeing on light black with a good sized light tan head. Nose is dark fruits, dates, lactic tang, spices, dark toffee, touch of booze, earthy resonance. Taste comprises tangy dark fruits, xmas cake, pinch of spice, dark toffee. Fullish body, fine carbonation with a little prickle which helpt to keep this number drinkable and moving along, boozey strains in the finale. Decent Belgian.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours a reddish brown with decent head. Agree on the big aromas - full of dark fruit and demerara sugar, and almonds. Slightly sweet taste initially, drying out towards the end. Good.
