Gold in color with a two-finger head. Just another average IPA with citrus and spruce in both aroma and taste.

12 oz. can, 6.3% ABV, Best By Date: 08/20/2022

AROMA: Sweet with just a touch of dankness. Scents of pine, hops, mango, and lemon.

APPEARANCE: Pours a hazy light-amber with a huge, white, tight-foamed head that dissipates slowly with very good lacing.

TASTE: The front-end and back-end are both on the sweet side. Predominant flavors are, some kind of sweet citrus (could be orange, mango, or tangerine), peaches, and a hint of pine during the finish.

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied with a slightly dry texture. Carbonation is above average.

OVERALL: I'm not sure why I expected this to be on the bitter side, but it isn't. So I was surprised to find that it is mildly sweet, through and through, with just a touch of bitterness at the very end of the finish. To be honest, I don't know how I truly feel about this beer. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. I guess I would say that I like it, but wished that it had just a little more "something" to tip the scales more towards the "love" side. What that "something" is, I don't know. And that's what's driving me crazy trying to figure out. The tropical fruit flavors are very nice, as is the head, and the body and texture are on par for an IPA. If I had to pick something to improve, I would say maybe a little less dry and a bit more aroma. At any rate, the beer is more than good enough for me to proclaim that I won't be saying "no thanks" if offered one of these.

Bought at Liquor Shed. Best by August 7th 2022.

Pours a clear gold with almost 2 fingers of foam. It shrinks slowly and leaves some lacing behind.

Smell is light citrus, light tropical fruit, some toasted malt.

Taste is light citrus, some tropical fruit...bit of melon but not too much. Too much melon isn't a good thing to my palate. Some toasted malt.

Good body, very drinkable and yeah, it is on the drier side.

I am reasonably impressed.

A 12 oz can from the closest big-box supermarket that blessedly sells singles. I pour inside of my Great Heights snifter to see mostly clear, solidly yellow liquid topped by a serious head of fully white foam. A moderately inviting scent with pine and mango and field. The taste is a moderately interesting total of cedar, lemon, crackers, honey and malt. It is hard to stand out in the IPA universe.

Unexpectedly good Sweetwater IPA. Trendy, sure, but the bright citrus and tropical notes are juicy without growing an overhopped vegetal undertone, and the malts add just enough sweetness to give the back end some heft. Finishes moderately bitter with traces of pine and grapefruit pith. Nice beer.

Month old can A: Crystal clear pale gold with 1/2 of thick white head. Long retention and clinging lace. S: Generic bitter citrus and strong floral notes with faint wafer sweetness. T: Follows the nose closely. Clean fresh grapefruit pith, lemon-lime citrus, floral notes and sweet bread that lingers. M: Medium light, crisp and clean with a slick oily mouthfeel. O: Pretty good if not overwhelmingly so. Worth a try at least.
