Named after the motto of House Targaryen, Fire and Blood is inspired by Daenerys Targaryen and her three dragons, Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. To celebrate the rebirth of dragons, three different labels were created by the Game of Thrones visual effects specialists, each depicting one of Daenerys' feared dragons. Randomly distributed amongst the cases, each case will contain all three bottles.

Fire and Blood has a deep, dark red hue with a persistent, creamy off-white head. Aromas of ripe fruit, raisins, malt and slight spice, followed by a slightly floral and spicy hop character. A fruity, sweetish malt taste gives way to faint drying provided by the hops and rye. Underlying flavors of raisin and prune from the ancho chilies give way to a balanced malty and spicy finish.

Malt: Pilsner, Cara-60, Midnight Wheat, flaked rye and spelt
Hops: CTZ, Styrian Golding, German Tettnang
Spices: Ancho Chilies

Pair with pastrami, jerk chicken, pulled pork, Mexican cuisine (such as burritos), and sharp cheddar and pepper jack cheeses.

Bottle. For my 1000 beer I had this little gem. A deep, dark red hue with a creamy, off-white head. Aromas of ripe fruit, raisins, malt & slight spice, slightly floral and spicy hop. A fruity, sweet malt up front taste with a hoppy finish.

750ml from the lcbo. Dark brown pour with a hige off white head. Lovely sweet malted grains, lots of dark fruits, raisins, with some grassy hops. The mouthfeel is bang on for a belgian ale, and the carb is perfect. The finish is a tad smokey from the anchoes, with a dryness that i would expect from a quality dubbel. Fruity yet dry, medium bitterness. Nice stuff.

750ml bottle from bundle at Albertsons. Somewhere between a dark amber and a light brown, small cap of beige head. Malty aroma with savory touches. Taste is also malty, not sweet, with the peppers coming in very late in the game, with a minor spiciness that lingers on the tongue. Good weight and feel.

750ml bottle pours a murky brick red, lots of foamy beige head.  Infected?  Nose doesn't indicate that... Just not much: malt, cracker, maybe raisin.  Flavor has more, raisins, malt, cracker, some Thai red pepper snap.  Finishes a bit flabby.  6 4 6 2 11

750 ml corked and crowned bottle. Garnet colored pour with a small creamy beige head. Toasted malt nose hints at dark dried fruit, earthy grain and brown sugar. Some warming notes from the Ancho chilies, though they are subtle. Overall, there is a soft complexity throughout this brew. Smooth and flavorful with great balance. Mildly sweet notes in middle. Dry, crisp malty finish. Ommegang delivers again!

On tap @ Barleycorn. Quite a clouded looking one this, deep dark ruby brown in color and a nice lacing lasting off-white head. Smells kinda Belgian. Dark caramel and chocolate. Some yestiness and traces of cocoa. Nice smelling aroma. Yeah, it's a nice dubbel this. Tastes pretty good with lots of subtle small Belgian flavors. Chocolate, cocoa, dark candied sugar, some dry fruitiness. It's nice and oily in the mouth while about average on the carbonation. Traces of burnt rye and hay in the finish. Liked this one. 16.06.2015

Tap at Dexters. Filtered brown-amber body. Big, foamy off-white head. Interesting beer. Delicate fluffy body. Interesting meld of amber, fruity ancho pepper, rye, Belgian yeast. Zesty, spicy, some definite fruity pepper tones, but no real heat. A solid beer, lots of depth. Well executed.

Pours a hazy deep amber colour with lots of particles through it. Big beige head, good retention and thick creamy-foamy lacing. Toasted malt aromas with caramel and some dark fruit notes. The taste also starts with the toasted malts, going through some fruitiness and some hops appear in the finish. A pretty nice, higher-end red ale.
