Named after the motto of House Targaryen, Fire and Blood is inspired by Daenerys Targaryen and her three dragons, Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. To celebrate the rebirth of dragons, three different labels were created by the Game of Thrones visual effects specialists, each depicting one of Daenerys' feared dragons. Randomly distributed amongst the cases, each case will contain all three bottles.
Fire and Blood has a deep, dark red hue with a persistent, creamy off-white head. Aromas of ripe fruit, raisins, malt and slight spice, followed by a slightly floral and spicy hop character. A fruity, sweetish malt taste gives way to faint drying provided by the hops and rye. Underlying flavors of raisin and prune from the ancho chilies give way to a balanced malty and spicy finish.
Malt: Pilsner, Cara-60, Midnight Wheat, flaked rye and spelt
Hops: CTZ, Styrian Golding, German Tettnang
Spices: Ancho Chilies
Pair with pastrami, jerk chicken, pulled pork, Mexican cuisine (such as burritos), and sharp cheddar and pepper jack cheeses.

On tap at Yard House Houston. If pours an unclear brown body under a dense, finger thick beige head. The aroma is spiced and Belgian, with prunes, some roasted notes and a grassy, piney hop touch. The flavor has a roasted malty touch in the back, prunes and some caramel and spices, and with some hoppy bitterness dealing with the sweet malts. Full body, pleasant carbonation, and a lasting finish which feels quite dry. Sure a beer worth repeating. 140511

750 c&c from Bine & Vine. Opened with quite a pop. Pours dark copper iwth a beige head. Aroma of darkish fruit and some light, but insistent, pepper. Med body or better. Flavor is Belgian yeast, maybe banana ester (yes on that) with a little spice that could be rye and some pepper aspects. Still, there’s no question that this is "classic" Belgian ale. Peppers set aside, that is.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Pours a hazy brown-orange with a large beige soapy head with great retention; leaves some groovy lace. Aroma consists of peppers, vague fruitiness, floral notes. Taste is lightly sweet, savory, lightly spicy, clove. Mouthfeel is foamy, body medium. Decent Belgian-style ale, but it would have been a lot better with some heat. Second thoughts: after it sits awhile, some very mild heat becomes noticeable, making things slightly more interesting.

Pours ruby tinged amber into a tulipl. Off-white micro head with excellent retention recedes leaving gloppy sheet lacing. Sweet caramel and chili aromas. Smooth with chocolate and pit fruit upfront turning to warming, sour pepper skin in the lasting finish.

Shared bomber at Easter dinner with family. Brown-red color. Creamy, thick light brown head. Sweet malty aroma. Tastes sweet, faint pepper. Medium palate, thin finish. It was okay but I guess I expected more.

Split a 750 ml bottle with girlfriend and friends on Easter. Poured a nice clear ruby color with a medium-large white head. Aroma was light caramel notes, sweet malts, some light spices, a touch roasted pepper note, but nothing too major. Flavor was mellow roasted notes, but that’s hidden behind light sweet dark fruits, and a touch of light spice. Decent, but would have loved a bit more *oomph* in this one.

Draft @ Three Fires. Banana, raisin, spicy Belgian yeast aroma. Clear chestnut with a moderate beige head. Banana, creamy wheat malt, green chili, herbal hops, and light rye spice flavor. Medium creamy body, moderate carbonation.

From a 75 cl bottle shared at home. Pours a clear amber with a tan head. Banana yeast nose. Flavor dominated by chili with some metallic notes. Nice try.

Bottle. Spoiler Alert: Joffrey dies! Pours very dark red with off white head. A bit overcarbonated. Nose/taste of dry raisin, dark fruit, fig, rye, doughy malt, light toast, banana, green vegetal pepper and light spicy hop. Medium body. Dry finish.
