Bottle shared on Xmas day. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is roasted malt, liquorice, treacle, charred wood and toast. The bitter, some acidity, earth, hard roast, cocoa, earth, charred wood, chewy malt, dried fruit, charcoal and plenty of liquorice with a dry, roasty finish. Med+ body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Pretty heavy duty stuff. A touch acidic also. OK.

Bottle shared at chriso’s pre-Christmas tasting. Pours clear brown with a creamy beige head. The nose has some dusty cocoa, toasted leaves, dried berries. Light-medium sweet flavor with soft roast, toasted grains, earth, leaves, leathery fruits. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Nicely balanced on the finish with slight herbal bitterness, a bit of cocoa, roast, earth. Quite nice.

Bottle shared at chriso’s winter tasting 8/12/2014. Dark brown coloured pour with a small loose grayish cream head. Aroma is earthy hop, some solvent, some roast. Weird something on the nose that I can’t pick out. Flavour is slightly veggy tart berry, Mid biting roast. Palate is medium bodied, moderate carbonation and a little sweet. Lingering burnt sugar.
