Deep golden colour, white foam. Nose of sweet malts, fruity hints, whisky. Medium sweet, a bit earthy, whisky finish. Ok, but a bit unbalanced. --- Beer merged from original tick of SchuppenBoer - Wine Barrel Aged on 31 Jan 2017 at 04:34 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Original review text: Bottle from LDW, Eke. Golden colour, thin layer of foam. Medium carbonation. Sweet nose of peach and citrus. Taste is vinous, but not too much. Also banana fruitiness. Well balanced. Good barrel aged tripel.

Bottle picked up from Belgiuminabox webshop Antwerp Belgium and consumed at home listening to Jenny Beth - To love is to Live and cooking a Mango Chicken Curry and Chaana Dhal (both Curry Guy) Friday 4th December 2020. Pours hazy gold with a sticky white head. There is a light whisky edge to the nose, however I get yeastiness just as much. Taste is okay, fruity with a bittersweet edge, a little rough around the edges, in fact I am not convinced that a Tripel aged in a whisky cask is a marriage made in heaven. Ok but probably won't drink all of it.

Very good, lightly yellowish head over clear copper-coloured beer. Some shards of lace. Rather creamy nose, diary, bit spicy, hints of rosewater (the Cascade?). Some faraway alcohol. Spice grows bigger with time. Drier, toasted flavour. Again some rosewater; alcohol, white candi sugar, scorched sugar; dried apricot. The whisky is subtly noticable, but complexity is just nowhere, after a couple of moments one could even think emptiness. Mild alcoholwarming, very slick, mild carbonation. 1° Tripel is not the most happy kind of beer for barrel aging. 2) Coriander might add some flavour, even add some feel, but it does provide complexity, which is exactly what this beer needs.

Fles thuis. Donkergeel tot lichtbruin bier met schuim. Smaak is licht bitter en licht fruitig met iets van ananas en wat whiskey. Even wennen maar dan is dit gewoon een erg fijn bier.
Earlier Rating: 2/2/2019 Total Score: 4.2

Bottle from Dranken Vandewoude and drunk on a campsite with Nelson. Hazy amber colour lasting white head. Crystallised fruits aroma. More of the same in the mouth. Some barrel agd presence but not dominant. Good strong Tripel. the wood gives structure. Decent sipping beer.

Bottle, 330 shared with Miro B, Max and Miro. Hazy yellow, medium white head. Estery, fruity, subtle whisky, sweetish. Nice bitter finish. Medium bodied.
EB from Friday and yesterday. Damn good! Pleasant soft slightly floral triple with just enough whisky barrel character to make it pop. --- Beer merged from original tick of SchuppenBoer - Belgian Owl Whiskey Barrel Aged on 20 Oct 2019 at 15:09 - Score: 8. 75 cl. bottle shared with Suus, Hilde and Brent @ Alex and Suus. Hazy yellow with a white head. Yeasty fruity aroma with some whisky. Taste is sweet with a medium bitter finish. Throughout it all the whisky is present, in aroma, taste and finish without being too dominant. Very pleasant barrel aged tripel.
