Keg at the Old Coffee House, 17/03/14. Lightly hazed golden orange with a good sized off white head. Nose is fresh hops, orange pith, mineral notes, mandarin, toasty, straw. Taste comprises bitter grapefruit, citric pithdom, sublte bacon rind, chalky minerals, light pine, faint smokehouse, punchy hops. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid IPA which pulls off the smoked bacon in a very subtle but noticeable way!

Keg at the Rake. It pours lightly hazy amber with a small white head. The nose is smoke, bacon frazzles, oily, earth, pine, manure/barnyard and some underlying sweetness. The taste is earthy, pine, raw bitterness, touch of citrus, smoke, light spice and resin with a dry, rather bitter finish. Not what I would call subtle, but flavoursome anyway. A nice go at a smoked-ipa hybrid.

Rake. Keg. Lightly hazy gold beer, good white head. Palate starts smooth but turns minerally crisp. Just enough malt to show a little cream. Chinook hops bring bitter grapefruit and a little peel. Mild smoke, well integrated. Finishes crisp and bitter. Good.

Keg at the rake. Golden orange coloured pour with a lasting white head. Some lace. Aroma is lemon, apricot some earthy pine. Flavour is initially a fairly straightforward IPA with sweet orange apricot and lemon. Assertive clean lemon grapefruit bitterness. Then the smoked malt presents itself. It is woody and ashy charred wood. The bitterness plays of the ashy smoke and toes the line of being a clash. Palate is clean medium body, slight resin and solid carb. Well put together.

Keg at the Rake - London. Pours clear gold, lightly effervescent, with a foamy white head. Dried citrus in the nose with nips if minerals and pale bread. Light-medium sweetflavor with loads of dry, flinty minerals, subtle tangerine, lots of rindy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Gritty bitter citrus rind on the finish with further flinty minerals, very faint smoked beechwood, slight ripe orange. So so.
