Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours clear brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds dry cocoa and light roast. Light sweet flavour with notes of bitter chocolate, earth, and faint dark fruits. Light in body with average carbonation. Moderately drying to finish, with more baking cocoa character. Fine overall. One of the better offerings from this brewery.

Draft - Light toast and toffee. Deep clear brown with a light brown head. Light toast and toffee. Not enough oomph but decent.

Draught at Discretion Brewing. Clear brown liquid with small to medium light tan head. Aroma of coffee, floral hops, bread, light earth and light toast. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of grain, bread and toast. Weirdly chalky and astringent. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Ugh.

Tap. Pours clear chestnut, medium tan head, nice lacing. Aroma is malty, rich, a touch smoky, heavy roast, coffee. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, roasty and a hint smoky, no acidity. Medium body, rich. Good.

On tap at the Good Hop. Aroma is fairly malty and slightly sweet with some darker caramel and toffee. Moderate nut notes with light notes of chocolate. Low fruit esters. Medium light notes of toasted bread. Pours a nice brown color with a reddish hue and a medium sized, fairly thick, light tann head that recedes to a thin film that lingers. Flavor is slightly sweet with some moderate toast and nut notes. Medium light dark caramel and toffee notes with hints of chocolate and roast. Medium low bitterness with faint floral hop notes. Mouthfeel is medium light to light bodied with moderate carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but this isn’t a black lager. Finishes with a bit of stickiness and is too sweet. Lots of malt character. Not bad, but pretty average.

290814. Red dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel. Flavour is roasted malt, fruit, hop, caramel, coffee. Medium body. Ordinary beer.

[ As Discretion Oh Black Lager ].Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, light coffee - mild coffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a long duration, bread, roasted, dark malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20140829]

Pours hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is toasted malty. Smooth fruity and toasted malty. Caramelish. Ends mediúm dry and slight bitter. Toasted malty finish.
