Keg at CBC Brixton - London. Pours mostly clear amber-brown with almost no head. Loads of old, used wood in the nose, ripe fruits, apple, plum, fig. Hugely sweet flavor but not actually cloying, with some woody dryness, leathery berries, apple sauce, toffee. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Thick and warming on the finish, lots more ripe apple, plums, dates, rich berries. Strikes me as an aged beer, in a good way. Quite nice. Actually, really good.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear, nutty brown with hardly any head. Burned caramel nose, somewhat oxidized in the most pleasant way. Rich, fat body, again caramel, has a woody touch but it’s probably just the oxidized note. Some late hops and never cloyingly sweet. Some warming alcohol. A delicious Barley Wine. 180315

Sample from tap, CBF 2014. Deep, amber colour with a thin, light tanned head. Fruity aroma with citrus, caramel malts, some liquorice, overripe fruits, a light hint of booze. Taste is sweet. Full body with a creamy texture. Finishes dry and fruity with rich malts and sweet fruits. Decent BW.
