An unmistakable aroma tickles the nose. A subtle tingle of crushed pepper with bellowing heat. A clean and beautifully balanced beer.

(Bottle) Clear amber brown with good white head. Peppery aroma. Medium body, medium carbonation. Taste is nice carsmel malt with some peppery spice. Overall, a nice beer but with no real significance of pepper.

Bottle at home. Light toffee, crisp and bitter, light peppery spice - slightly confused about having to add the pepper myself.

Bottle from B&M, Rochdale. Deep amber-red with no head. Tried the first half without the pepper. Like many premium ales it has a light berry sweetness in both its aroma and taste. Adding the small sachet of pepper that came with it felt like the 80’s when I had to add the salt to the salt and shake crisps in my lunchbox - certainly a novelty for a beer! With the pepper added (and wasn’t quite sure whether to stir it or not), there wasn’t a huge amount of difference (nor was there a huge amount of pepper in reality), and it didn’t make a lot of difference.

Bottle at KØ14. Black pepper aroma. Clear chestnut colour. Small white head. It has a rather uninteresting malt base, but there is a touch of black pepper.
