This is the ultimate Weird Beard White whale. We took our black IPA and dry hopped it with roasted coconut, to make the limited edition fade To Black Coconut Edition, a sweeter more luxurious version of the original. But not happy with that, we decide to stick just 200 liters into a Heaven Hill barrel. The vanilla from the barrel plays perfectly with the slight sweetness from the coconut. This in one not to be missed.

Bottle from Cobbett’s Real Ales. It pours darkest brown/near black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich roast, earth, toast, coffee, cocoa, vanilla, toasty coconut and a touch of dark fruits. The taste is bitter-sweet, roasted malt, bounty bar, toasty coconut, earthy coffee, chocolate, touch of booze, bit of dark fruit action and oak with a smooth finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. All comes together rather well. Rather tasty stuff. Yummerz.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a deep mahogany with bubbly light tan head. The aroma is woody malt, bourbon, red berry fruits. The flavour is strong bitter with a roasty, hop bitter, alcoholic palate and a bubbly mouthfeel. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.

Minimal, slow-building rust-cream head on brown-black beer. Mild roast, sweetish aroma that indeed hints coconut/copra. Coconut very prominent, coconut"milk" in tin or rasped, but also blackberry. Hints at roast, bit of milkchocolate, and, aye, Bounty. Medium bodied, quite well-carbonated. Not much in the league of aftertaste. I love the caption! Quite good, but once you’re done with the coconut (and a little roast), there’s not much left to celebrate.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear, dark brown. Thin, dense, lasting, beige head. Handsome. Milk chocolate. Desiccated coconut. A light, white grape thing. More black, than IPA. Taste is dark chocolate sweet. Fair amount of dry, woody bitterness. There’s some of the barrel booziness on the palate, but it still feels a bit thin. Finishes woody dry, and light bitter.

330ml bottle. Darkest brown, ruby red glimmering colour with huge, foamy, fairly lasting and lacing, beige to tan head. Aroma is predominated by Bourbon notes, vanilla, leather, additionally a hardly detectable coconut touch, if present, then completely disguised Black IPA notes of whatever kind. Taste is rather complex, oscillating between Bourbon, vanilla, coconut, dry roasty dark malt and bitter hop; dry, slightly woody finish. Nice coconut touch, BA-notes disguise the original beer almost completely - maybe a Black IPA isn’t the best choice for this kind of conditioning.
