A sun-soaked pale ale lazing away under a gentle pine fragrance, before heading down to Monterey Bay where the party’s at - grab some of that tropical cocktail aroma, then let your tongue return to bask under the pines and enjoy a quick sharp bitter finish.

A West Coast style pale ale brewed with American-sourced hops. Pine and tropical fruits on the nose, more pine on the tongue followed by a quick, sharp, bitter finish.

Cask handpull at Tap East. Buttery diacetyl style aroma over a standard golden ale. Don’t like the aroma and there is not enough in the rest of the beer to deflect from the butter. Not my favourite. Some bitterness on the finish.

Cask @ Trades Club, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a thick creamy head. It’s dry hopped with a tropical fruity nose. The fruits are also evident in the flavour which leads to a medium-high bitterness.

Hand-pulled half-pint in the lovely Bath Ales own ’Grapes’ in Oxford on 22 Nov 13. Orange/amber with an off-white head. Friuty and spicy hop nose and taste, too many hops for me, but I’m still not used to the West Coast of the US style of over hopping (I am trying though). Just a little to bitter for my delicate taste buds. Interesting and worth finding, even if you’re not a hop bomb fan.
