“Camden vs Italy is our collective interpretation of a German Märzen which is a dark style of lager. We stepped it up a few notches by a slight addition of black malt to deepen the colour and give a subtle tinge of roast, and then supercharged the bitterness by way of a menagerie of hops from Germany and NZ to hit 45IBU. The result of all of this is a hoppy red lager with a long, dry bitterness – perfect for a cool autumn day.” Alex Troncoso, Head Brewer.

Bottled (from AbM). Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is toasted malts, some pleasant floral hops and mild ryelike notes. Flavour is very similar in a very pleasant balance. Camden Town does make some very nice beers every now and then. This was a clean and true to the style spot on attempt.

Keg at the Euston Tap - London. Good stuff. Pours clear amber with a fine, white foam head. Sweet and bready like a good marzen ought to be. Lightly nutty with mild earth and toasty toffee. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with lightly toasted bready malts, toffee, faint leaves. Decent.

Hygglig.
