Apparently an authentic example of an 19th century Scottish table beer. I love it! Saaz really makes this. My only question is why was Saaz so popular in 19th century Scotland.

Bottle, online from Cork & Cask, Edinburgh. Pours unclear pale yellow with a white cap. Aroma: bright with plenty of brett funk, lemon, hay, grass. Taste: dry, funky, lemon, oak, some minerality, straw, spicy hop. Light to medium body with spritzy carbonation. It's unrefined but bloody tasty.

Bottle from the Wee Vault. Appearance - pale yellow with a thin snow white head. Nose - funk, hay, dough, candied lemon and white pepper. Taste - lemon sherbet and white pepper. Dough again. Palate - light bodied, dry, a hint of tartness and persistent on the finish. Overall- good stuff.

Bottle from Premier Hop. It pours lightly hazy lemon yellow with a small fluffy white head. The aroma is bright and funky, lovely brett vibes, barnyard, splash of Irn Bru, hay, grass, lemon verbena and lime sherbet. The taste is crispy, dry, quenching, light bitterness, minerality, straw, grass, oak, lemon rinse, verbena, funky background drop, crackery malt, touch of sweet doughy bread and touch of spice with a firmly dry finish. Light+ body and moderate, lively carbonation. Lovely stuff.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Cork & Cask. Pours mostly clear yellow with a small, creamy white topping. Nice brett funk in the nose. Lightly sweet, a little doughy wheat bread, pronounced brett, flinty dryness, lemon rind. Light bodied with delicate, massaging carbonation. Fairly dry in the finish, a little oak, flinty minerality, nips of grass, wheat flakes, funk. Very enjoyable.
