Drink in bottle @ Cobbetts, Dorking. Small head with short duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, coffee, chocolate, licorice and hops. Nice roasty finish.

Bottle @ Cobbetts, Dorking. Almost black with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and caramel. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Dry and roasted light bitter finish. 140218

Cask @ 27th Egham Beer Festival 2017. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocolate caramel aroma. Roasted malty chocolate caramel flavor. Has a roasted malty caramel chocolate finish.

Cask at the Great British Beer Festival 2017. Pours mahogany brown with a maroon tint and a bubbly beige head. Aroma of dark fruit, malt, chocolate and light toasting. Moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, slightly watery texture, soft carbonation.

Cask at GBBF. It pours hazy deep brown with a small beige head. The aroma is earthy, toasty, ashy, cacao nibs, chocolate and wood. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, wood, ash, leather, tannin, cacao nib, dark fruit and black tea with a drying finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A bit drying and tannin. Drinks OK anyhow.

Cask 1/3 pint, gravity dispense, at the 16th Twickenham Beer & Cider Festival, Black colour, beige head. Moderate roasty aroma, mild coffee, oatmeal. Slightly lively and pleasant mouthfeel. Moderate roastiness in the flavour, medium dry, coffee notes.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Gryphon, Bristol 2/9/2016. Near black in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Sweetish stout, with a touch of berry fruits, liquorice and roasted malts, leading to a moderately dry finish. Good.

Cask at GBBF 2015, day 1 - London. Pours clear brown with a creamy tan head. The nose holds tangy dark malts, dark fruits, faint chocolate. Light sweet flavor with more tangy dark fruits, berries, raisins. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish, with notes of old leather and more tangy, dark fruits. So so.
