Brettlehem is a Scanian Christmas beer spiced with cloves, that gives a special character by fermentation with the mixture of different yeast strains, particularly those of the genus Brettanomyces. The beer is carbonated naturally by fermentation in the bottle which gives a thin layer of yeast sediment on the bottom.
The taste of this beer continues to develop in the bottle for a long time.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Theydon of Bois. Hazy amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and dry. Light bretty start. Ripe generic fruits. Light caramel malts. Light finish. Lacks cohesion but fine.

Bottle split at Bruce’s Pad thanks to Alex (Angst) in an IP trade, 12/06/14. Small sample as Paulo decided to toss the bottle on the floor and play ’gusheroooo’ TM. Murky dark mahogany brown with a moderate light beige covering. Nose is bretty pangs, dark fruit rinds, bitter fruit notes, straw. earthy. Taste comprises bitter orange marmalade, funky twangs, earthy, dark fruit, spice, caramel light. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok saison.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Colin. And big thanks to Paul for ensuring this would be a gusher. Pours ruddy brownish with a foamy off-white head. Interesting beer. Some Christmasy spices, a bit of brown bread, moderate funk. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Further spices to finish, light sweetness, lingering funky twang. OK.
