Bottle. A- Alcohol, chocolate, dates, figs, malty, burnt sugar. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, no head. T- Soy sauce, booze, cocoa, dates, figs, mild tobacco, mild leather. P- Full body, average texture, flat carbonation, boozy finish. O- Assuming this is about 6 years old? Rather boozy although a fair amount of flavors going. Unlike any weizenbock I've had. Still trying to decide just how much or how little I liked this.

Deep dark brown coloured body with almost no head at all - a sliver of a tan head on top with no movement at all (no big surprise there). Aroma of toasted malt, caramelised sugars, pungent earth, smoked peat, alcohol and way more malt than anything else, but a good deal of pitted fruit sweetness noticeable as well. Light to Medium-bodied; Definetely seemed to thin out over the years (as expected) with a subdued, yet noticeable alcohol bite in the back end with a lot of smoked peat, a good deal of earthier and pungent malts, some residual yeast and a finish of pure caramelised sugars with a good level of sweetness on the end from some figs, prunes and a touch of dates as well. Aftertaste shows a nice moderate complexity without much alcohol burn at all - this goes down quite easily, especially considering the alcohol percentage, and stays that way - the caramel and earthy malts are much more strong than any alcohol pungency or any astringency at all. Overall, a nice and nuanced beer that shows layers and most importantly, seems to have aged well over time - the alcohol is almost non-existent, the flavours have muddled and mellowed quite a bit and the beer shows a more elegant flavour throughout. Great to sample, especially after having it all this time and letting some of the yeast and sediment do its work on a such a high alcohol beer. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 02-November-2013 for US$2,99 just after having my first kid, now having three and sampling this at home in Washington about four and a half years later on 21-March-2018 after an inch or snow here in Springtime in Washington. Vintage: June 2013 // Purchased: November 2013 // Sampled: March 2018

A bottle purchased today but cellared for some some time by the retailer. Dark brown color. Carbonation is low, with some age on this beer that is no surprise. Sweet malt aroma, and initially an abrasive alcohol flavor followed by sweet mat, some dried fruit banana, and pear. Alcohol affects the palate, this beer is hot, but flavor is good after the palate becomes accustomed to the heat.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with trace orange highlights and a minimal beige head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was malty, wheaty and bready with cola, dark fruits, wood, anise and a medicinal presence. The flavor was tangy cherry, plum, wood, bread, cola and a medicinal presence. Reminded me a lot of cherry flavored cough syrup. Long finish and the medicinal presence grows. Moderately full bodied but a bit flat. Pretty awful.

Bottle. Banana, light chocolate malt and strong alcohol aroma. Cloudy brown with minimal head. Sweet banana, clove, chocolate, wheat malt and moderately bitter herb and alcohol flavor. Okay but very boozy.

Not bad at all. Nice musky basement feel. A touch of citrus and a little oaky. Slightly floral. Finishes with some sourness and light sweetness. Light brown without much head or lacing. Good body. Bottle.

Bottle from ? (Hate it when I don’t write on the label). Looks brown, but strong light shows it to be very dark ruddy. Head was slight and transient. Aroma is malty/bready and rather dark fruit/spicy. Full bodied. Flavor is chocolate, dark fruit (like plums!), a little earthy (phenol?), and finally the banana ester thing. It’s not exactly dry (:)) and it’s rather alcoholic (which took me a bit to notice). Yet it’s a wonderful drink. I’m thinking bottle conditioning is really helping this one. The carbonation is sort of champagne/spritely. All it needs is a few more prunes. :))

Tap at Sugar Maple. Tiny snifter. This beer is nice. Massive, big beer. Retains its Weizenbock character while truly imperializing. Banana chocolate tones. Wow. Unfiltered, blissfully malty, lots of depth. Complex. World Class. Massive, yet delicate. Well done.
