Bottle (no. 38 of 2592) shared by Benzai @ Van Moll Brewpub, served in a taster glass. Dark brown color, short frothy light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, mocha, chocolate, some coffee, slight biscuity malts, bit whisky. Medium sweet in taste, slight bitter, chocolate. Creamy texture. Not as liquoricy as some other RIS, but more velvety and smooth, which I like.

(bottle, 33cl, #1026/2592, 9.5% abv) Black colour with a brown and short foamy layer. Moderately roasted malty aroma with present notes of fruity and oily, piney hops, accompanied by hints of cacao, sugar and a tinge of alcohol. Moderately bitter and sweet flavour, full bodied but not fat with a silky mouthfeel. Moderately roasted and slightly earthy malt-character with liquorice, chocolate, as well as mildly piney hoppy notes; bitter-sweet roast-malty and mildly hoppy finish, which lasts for awhile. Alcohol is slightly burning but most of all pleasantly warming from behind. 06.I.14

330ml bottle [#247 of 2592, 9.5% abv]. Black colour with late awakening, small, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Dark malty aroma, notes of treacle, vanilla, a touch of liquorice. Taste is moderately sweet dark malty, notes of treacle, vanilla, sweetened espresso, well matching hoppy counterweight. Relatively light body for an Impy Stout, not overly complex as well, but simply tasty.
