In the late 2000’s we created a beer to celebrate all the best of summer - baseball, beach days, and barbecues. Today, that beer has grown into the most iconic seasonal beer ever and the official craft beer of summer - Summer Love. Summer Love is a refreshing Golden Ale that delivers big flavor through its fine balance of clean pilsner malts and citrusy, earthy Simcoe and Tettnang hops.

On tap at Bishops Arms, Folkungagatan. Golden with a white head. Aroma and taste of light hops, some fruit, grass and light malt. The body was on the light side and the finish fairly dry. Drinkable but nothing special.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Whole Foods, Lynnfield. Appearance is clear pale yellow with light sparkle, finger-width foamy white head with fair retention and light soapy lacing. Aroma is mix of bitter pilsner malts/German hops dank resin, citrus. Taste is predominantly bitter, with malt character. Palate is medium bodied, thick texture, average-to-lively carbonation with bitter finish. Overall, balance of malts and hops with an edge to hop dryness and bitterness that are not my cup of tea.

Single bottle. Dated enjoy by Aug 2, 2016. Tulip glass. A: Pale yellow pour with tall frothy head that retains well. Little visible carbonation but clumps of lace . S: Herbal hop scent with slight dry bready note. T: Grassy hops half bitter half sour. Malt note also seems sour but not in a good way. M: Low-ish carbonation makes the light-medium body seem lifeless. O: Can’t believe I don’t like this more. Maybe a bad bottle, but probably not a repeat purchase.

(bottle, 35.5cl) Slightly hazy, pale golden colour with a blond and short foamy head. Fruity hoppy aroma with notes of citrus, grapefruit and lemon zest. Mildly bitter flavour, light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Soft pale malty base with a good citric hoppy bite, leading into a mildly hop bitter finish. Clean and refreshing Ale. 02.II.16

355ml bottle. Clear, yellow-ish golden colour with average, creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Protein-impregnated, grainy, strawy aroma, mild citrusy hoppy overtones, hints of lemon zest. Taste is slightly dry, citrusy hoppy, minimally strawy, pale malty basis, hints of lemon zest; rather light, monotonous and slightly watery.
