Bitter in style, not in flavour! David’s Not So Bitter is not so dark, not so strong, and not so bitter – it’s just right! This is a great all-rounder beer with a flavour appealing to those wanting a smooth beer that simply tastes great and isn’t too bitter.

This simple, well balanced ruby ale, with caramel, biscuity flavours dominating has yet to meet a dish it doesn’t go well with.

Malts: Maris otter, Wheat, Crystal.
Hops: Northern Brewer, Cascade.

Clear ruvy beer, thick creamy head. A little malt in the aroma. Flavour has a little hop, some sweet fruit, a little maltiness. Not loads else going on and a slightly watery finish. Inoffensive but I wouldn't rush back for a second.

Bottle from Wrekin Whiskies, Shrewsbury. Copper-gold, but a bit more of the former, with a head. Fairly sweet bitter with an nice easy texture in part from its smoothness in the palate.

330ml bottle from Wrekin Whiskies, Shrewsbury. Pours a deep mahogany, small off-white head. Some caramelised malts and stewed fruits in the aroma. Taste has a burnished fruity malt character, with good bitterness. There’s enough caramelised flavour here for a bitter, perhaps more of a Scottish bitter in that respect. Not bad really.
