Double Stout, part of Shepherd Neame’s Classic Collection range of beers, is based on a recipe discovered in a coded brewers’ log unearthed in the brewery archives.

Made with a blend of four different malts with a firm bitterness courtesy of local Kentish hops, it is a velvety smooth beer with dry, burnt flavours and cocoa and coffee notes.

# 461; 10/2016. Velmi povedený, vcelku suchý stout. Silně kávová a trocu oříšková vůně. V chuti přecházejí kávové tóny až do ovocných.

The ale has a weak texture and a mild flavour. It’s almost black with no head.

Cask handpull at The Bishops Finger, Canterbury. Black, with brown edges, lasting cream head. Decent dry stout, lots of burnt roast malt on finish. Aroma of choc and roast malt. Very burnt and roast with some body but the burnt malt dominates just a touch too much. But still really good and I sank a pint in 5 mins no problem. Brewed for St Patricks Day 2010
