A low alcohol, light, refreshing, effervescent, zippy and tart wheat ale which shines even brighter with the addition of fruit or herbs. Traditionally either raspberry or woodruff is used in Germany but we thought we would up the ante by using apricots for our beers. It is our intention to brew further variations of Blitz using different fruits over the next few months.

Cloudy yellow/golden beer with a small white head. Sourish tart aroma with dough, biscuits, citrus, apricots and sour grapefruit. Sour fruity flavor, somewhat spicy with wheat, citrus, apricots, some grapefruit. Alright, but I don’t think I’d drink more than one.

Tap at Shoreditch. Very cloudy gold, dark, with a fine head. Lactic acid nose, lemon, apricot, a bit nauseating actually. Quite sour flavor, lemon, apricot, tart and fruity, big flavor. Nice. Refreshing and clean.

Keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. Pours hazy yellow with a thin white head. Sour aromas, lemon sharpness, yoghurt. More on the taste, white a big mouth-puckering sourness. Not much apricot going on, but a good sour beer nevertheless.

Keg at BrewDog Camden. It pours cloudy pale orange with a small white head. The nose is fresh apricot, juicy, lactic, natural yoghurt and light barnyard. The taste is clean, lactic, sour apricot, peach, nectarine, creamy, lemonade, sherbet, granny smith apple and mild acidity with a dry, lightly tart finish. Light-medium body and fine, fizzy carbonation. Good body for the style. Clean, juicy and refreshing. Great balance and high drinkability. I could drink a lot of this!
