Atlantic White blends the tradition of Belgian ‘Wit’ beers and the hop-character of American IPAs to produce a ‘White IPA’. Brewed with wheat malt and Belgian wit yeast the addition of freshly crushed coriander seeds, Curacao orange and US hops gives a light refreshing beer with a zesty and spicy finish.

330ml bottle. Wouldn’t necessarily have labelled this a wit on a blind tasting, has some prominent orangey elements and some bold hop flavours, the wit yeast really lying low in the background. Interesting but a slightly confused taste.

Draft at GBBF 2013 - London. Pours cloudy gold with a creamy white head. Certainly some wheat in the aroma, also a bit of lemon meringue. Light to medium sweet with doughy bread and wheat. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with mild bitter hay, doughy wheat and citrus rind. Fair.

One-third pint by cask at GBBF 2013, first day. Lasting white head over a hazy, golden body. Wheat and spiced fruity nose. Late banana in the flavour profile joined by lightly spiced fruits. Dry ending, on the sweet side. Medium bodied. Has got its moments of joyful drinking. Fine version of the style (London Olympia 13.08.2013).

Cask at GBBF ’13, cheers to Ken for split, 13/08/13. Hazedorange amber with a thin white swirl atop the glass. Nose is tangy orange, lemon rind, light spice, grass. Taste comprises grass, orange pith, citrus notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish. Ok representation of the style and probably the best offering I’ve had to date from Brains’ craft arm!

Bottled. Slightly hazy gold, with a tight white head and plenty of carbonation. Wheat beer aroma of orange peel, bubble gum and leafy, citrus hops. Full bodied, with some prickle on the tongue, more fruit, spice, coriander, grainy malts and a slightly dry finish. Good.
