A beer for connoisseurs and aficionados. India Pale Ale is named after those famous ales that, beginning in the seventeenth century, were loaded on ships headed for India. Since the ships had to cross the equator and there was no refrigeration of any type on board, the Pale Ale destined for India had a higher alcohol content and was made with a generous measure of hops, enabling it to better withstand long voyages. In revisiting this beer style, Theresianer Master Brewers chose to emulate the magnificent and traditional intense hoppiness. When combined with long aging, the result is a surprising aroma with floral and citrus nuances, and a distinct bitterness that fades to leave the impression of a nicely balanced body.

IPA by a well-established brewery in Trieste, enjoyed from a longneck bottle at an Italian restaurant in the old city centre of Stockholm. Medium thick, stable, eggshell-white, plastery lacing head over a hazy to eventually clouded, orange blonde beer with amberish tinge. Aroma of fresh orange peel, pink grapefruit, moist white pepper, dry biscuit, fresh wormwood leaf, vague mandarin, hints of baker's yeast and a bit of 'putteke' as they say in Flemish (stinky plughole). Clean onset, smooth and quite crisp with lively yet appropriately fine-bubbled effervescence, subtle fruity notes of green pear and unripe peach mingling with the early citric effects from the hops; slick but full, slenderly biscuity middle gently bittered by growing orange pith- and wormwood-like hops, a bit zesty and peppery and medium long but adequate in bitterness. Accessible for restraining its hop bitterness somewhat - like a West Coast IPA toned down for a larger audience, as we have seen many pass by in Europe in the past two decades. Too shy and modest to truly shine, but very easily drinkable and carefully balanced - in itself a very pleasant beer, in all, with the additional plus (for me) being the total absence of hazy NEIPA influences; I guess the recipe has not changed much in all the time it has been in existence...

Getreidiger, karamellig hopfiger Beginn. Milde Süße, kernig, spritzig. Karamellig bleibend, etwas trockener Hintergrund, würzig. Langer, karamellig hopfiger Nachgeschmack. Gelungen. 11/9/10/10/8/10

elegantna, srednje gorka IPA s izraženim citrusno-cvjetnim aromama hmelja i čistim, suhim završetkom koji ostavlja dojam talijanske finoće. A nisam mogao ni odabrati bolje mjesto za probati ovu pivu od podnožja Tre Cime, tri poznata vrha u talijanskim alpama.

At Nomad restaurant. Smell of straw, some hops. Cloudy amber colour, small white head. Aroma of straw, resin, hops, faint honey. Lots of italo pils here mixing with ipa. Lively carbon. Lightly bitter, lightly sweet. Decent body.

Bottled at Furusunds Värdshus, Furusund. Clear amber, mid sized head. Aroma of grspefruit, grass and dusty biscuits. Mid sweet with medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Crystal malt like biscuity base, hay and grapefruit. Mid bitter finish.

Clear gold blond beer, creamy dense off-white head, stable, non adhesive. Aroma: nice, some tropical fruits, sweet, caramel malts. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: fruity start, some mango, gentle bitterness, malty, caramel. Aftertaste: hint of citrus, gentle bitterness, fruity, some grapefruit, mango, more sweet malts, dry and bitter finish, very decent!

Bottled 330ml. -from Eataly Trieste, shared with hrabren. Darker golden coloured, medium sized white head, light citrus and caramel in the nose. Sweet malty, fruity, citrusy, notes of caramel and jam like fruity notes in the finish.
