Titanic loomed like an Iron Curtain as it prepared to set sail; later the Iron Curtain divided the East and West. Now, as the barriers to trade are no more Titanic have brewed a traditional style of beer that the Tsar’s of old would have loved.Imperial Russian Stout was originally brewed for the court of Catherine II, brewed using the finest ingredients including Roast Barley which gives rich body to the beer and a huge charge of hops to give powerful bitterness the beer reflects the opulence of the Royal Court.

4th Sep 2017: Shrewsbury monthly beer share in Chez Sophie, cheers Mike for this 330ml bottle. This was labelled as the '6 Month Aged' version, it tasted tart and almost sour in nature; so much so I remarked it reminded me of an old Rodenbach because of the colour, aroma and flavour.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Sep 17. Late-bottled vintage version. Thanks to Mike. Pours a dark reddish deep red wine brown. Aroma lightly sweet dark malt. Taste is markedly different from the cask influence. Extremely light, with some Flemish dark sour notes with vinous hints. Definitely should be a different entry. Interesting.

Bottle. Marked as call aged for six months, which is aliased here. Nose is very muted, light licorice, blackcurrant. Taste is fruity, licorice, barrel faint roast. Mouthfeel is painfully thin. This is a porter in profile and is the worst imperial stout I’ve ever had. Much better reviewed below on cask, which I’d be willing to try but this is poor in the bottle.
