Dark beer with a thin head and toasty coffee aroma. Flavour is an initial burnt toffee hit and it’s followed by coffee and malt. Finish is a touch watery but leaves a balancing sweetness.

Cask @ Wetherspoons, MK. Dark brown, medium White head with lots of lacing. Aroma of liquorice and hazelnuts, not particularly strong. Taste is sour/bitter. Mostly agreeable but with an unlovely acrid aftertaste. Palette is thin for a stout. Not overly enamoured.

Gravity cask at the Bree Louise, London. Pours a slightly cloudy, brown-black with a small, filmy head. Dark malts on the nose, roast, tar and rubber, hints of cocoa. Flavor is lightly sweet, some nice roasted malts, slight cocoa, hints of coffee beans, slight minerality, light peat. Light to medium in body with soft carbonation. Mild dryness to finish, more pleasing roasted malts, some mocha, dirt and peat. Not too bad!
