From old tasting notes. Reddish brown liquid topped by a rocky beige head. Earthy sweet malt nose. Big seem-sweet toasted malt flavor hints at chocolate and brown sugar. bubblegum,

Slightly hazy deep brown coloured body with a super-thin tan head. Aroma of malt, grapes, alcohol, whiskey and some subtle spices. Medium to Full-bodied; Sharp malty taste up front, fading to strong caramel and a nice spiceyness. Aftertaste shows character of spice and malt - a good doppelbock. Overall, definitely worth trying...good for the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 04-July-2005.

Clear light brown colour. The head died like it was a Pepsi. Cardboardy, thick malt aroma, rather indistinct. Blunt toffee, earthy, cardboardy malt character. Sweet, with a slightly hot finish. Lack of complexity and lack of melanoidins put this one below the Mendoza line for me.

Thanks to slob for sending this one! Starts a bit light in the color, being a medium amber with a large off-white head. Light malt aroma with some alcohol. The flavor begins malty but falls away at the end with a bitter finish. Needs a deeper maltiness with less of the bitter finish to really be a great Doppelbock.

Pour is a red-brown with a white head. Aroma is a nice carmel malt with a strong hop presence. Flavor is a nice mix of dark fruits and malts. The end is anice hit of alcohol. Strong and malty.
