Bottle from the lcbo. Dark brown, black pour with a small off white head. Aroma is sweet roasty cereals, maple syrup, espresso, and some vanilla. Thin mouth feel, thin carb. Low bitterness, semi sweet, dry finish.

This stout poured a black colour with a huge, creamy, brown head. Nice lacing. Scents include sweet malt, cocoa, black cherries, vanilla, caramel and rum. Basically a desert in a glass. First swig was thick, creamy and sweet. Black Forest cake in a glass. Flavours of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, and a little coffee. Finish is thick and sweet with light hops and chocolate with rum notes lingering.

600ml shared with Josh @ Ryan's (thx? for the bottle). Appearance: very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma: a bit sweet, some chocolate, roasted malts. Feels thin, though. Taste: along the same lines, quite carbonated, chocolatey, a bit dry. Overall: ok, nothing special.

Poured from 600mL bottle (thanks Sammy; pkg Sept 27, 2023). Very dark brown with small beige head. Burnt roast and caramel malt, feint vanilla and coffee, could be a bit rounder and sweeter for a dessert stout, but it's okay.

Dark brown. Not much head. On the nose, it smells like it's too light and thin to be a pastry stout. There's a touch of caramel, maybe coffee. Medium body, but I wouldn't say sugars. So it lacks the desserty richness, and I don't get a lot of vanilla, or caramel, so it's mostly the base stout I get here. Ok, for me that misses the mark because dessert should be rich, and this is more of an off-dry. Needs more everything, really, because more chocolate or coffee would do something. This sort of falls into the mushy middle of not being good at anything. But as they say, haters gonna hate.
