Sample from 75 cl. bottle. 2011 Vintage. Hazy, dark amber colour with a golden tint. Small, lightly tanned head. Sweet aroma with rich caramel malts, a good amount of alcohol, light toast, overripe fruits and biscuits. Taste is sweet and alcohol dense. Full body, with a thick texture and a soft carbonation. Long lasting dry finish with a burn from the alcohol. Why the need to go as high as 15 % abv.?

Bottle, 15C. Copper with a small off-white head that lasts well. Aroma of dried fruit, toffee, spices. Oily to syrupy mouthfeel. No heat from the alcohol, even though this must comfortably be the strongest Australian beer I’ve had. Bittersweet taste with grapes, dried peaches, figs, raisins, toffee, spices. Sweet-seeming flavours, but not that much sweetness - partly it’s the dry finish, partly the creeping bitterness. Was half expecting a hot kitchen sink; not a bit of it.
