Sample at Kurtkeller 011: Crooked Stave-tastic 01 on 05/02/2014. Pours a murky copper-brown color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of tart berries, caramel, oak and bourbon. Medium-bodied with vinous and cherry notes and oaky bourbon and caramel malt flavors. The finish is tart fruits and subtle bourbon. Good beer all around.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown with paperthin beige head that dininishes to nothing. The aroma is a strong oak and dark fruits. Thin mouthfeel with a nice light tartness and oak with nice light sour finish. Really enjoyed this.

Bottle at the not so small Friday shindig, big thanks to Leighton once again, 03/01/14. Lightly hazed chestnut brown with a moderate beige covering that clears to the edge and spotting. Nose is burnt sugars, dank straw, dark toffee, bitter dark fruits, musty wood, on the turn orange, light smoke. Taste comprises dank wood, bretty tones, barnyard, funk, tarte berry skins, musty wood, cobwebs, tarte fruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying closure with light acidity. Solid Flemish affair.

Mega Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Almost clear dark amber beer. Residual pale tan head. Palate is dry and crisp. Fairly sour - Flemish red with lemon acid. Light dry finish. Too sharp.

Bottle at the BIG 2-page tasting, thanks to Leighton. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is pretty sweet, woody, vanilla, toasted coconut, candy and soft fruit. The taste is crisp, tart, big acidity, tart green apple, pear, funk, light vomit, citrus peel and peach with a dry, acidic finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Packs a punch, but just too acidic for my liking.

Bottle shared in London during the Brokeback Revisited tasting. Got it from AJ. Pours clear amber with a modest, creamy off-white head. Quite acetic in the nose with tangy berries, sweat, old barrel. Light sweet with assertive sour berries, funky earth. Medium bodied with fine, spritzy carbonation. Quite acetic to finish, tongue-blistering, tart berry funk. Good stuff.

Bottle @ Exira Beer Summit IV, Day 2. Pours a clear, reddish rust appearance with a thin off white head. Whiskey, oak, vanilla, vinous, dark grape, apple, tart cherry aroma. Moderately tart, dark grape, plum, fairly tannic, tangy flavor. Some funk. Not bad but I prefer some of their other offerings better. Update: awesome!
