Taphouse, Copenhagen. Keg. Opaque brown beer, small tan head. Palate is smooth and soft but there is decent fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, mild cream. Little coffee before a soft creamy finish. One of the better ones from this brewery.

Bottle. It’s almost jet black, topped by a dense, beige head of moderate size. At first the aroma has a touch of chili, but that’s not part of the ingredients list and there’s no chili burn. Coffee, dark chocolate and lots of licorice. And a faint touch of vanilla, which is more evident in the aroma. It’s a bit too cocoa-ish in the flavor, with coffee and licorice doing most of the rest of the job. Some roasted bitterness towards the end. Full body and a soft carbonation level. Lasting roasted finish with cocoa. Quite nice this one, but I’d like it a bit more complex and balanced in the flavor. 141011

Bottle 50 cl. Pours an almost opaque black with a vague tint of red and a beige head. Sweet coffee in the nose, a little port wine also perhaps. Medium body, lowish carbonation. Sweet, subtle roast and again quite some sweet roast. Elegant. 091213
