Hog Happy Hefeweizen is a full-flavored, traditional German-style wheat beer that tastes like it comes straight from Munich, but is made with wheat from local farms. The yeast used during fermentation gives this straw-colored beer the sweet flavor and aromas of banana & clove.

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. It pours hazy golden yellow with a medium white head.. The nose is earthy, juicy orange, dough, apple, pear, banana, hay and wheat. The taste is sour, fruity, white grape skin, dough, orange, grapefruit, gooseberry, green banana and icing sugar with a dry, tart finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Tastes infected unfortunately....

Pours a lightly hazy medium golden straw color with a huge fluffy bone white head that persists forever. Smells of clove and other assorted yeasty esters along with a sweet honey like malt and a mild wheat spice aroma. The flavor is sharp with a hit of fruity tart with a solid dose of clove. Light apple and cherry fruits with a light sweet light sugary malt flavor. Medium body with a spirited level of carbonation and a sharp sweet tart mouthfeel. Decent brew, I could certainly entertain the thought of drinking this on a warm day.

purchased at Bert’s Better Beers. Stored in the fridge for a day and Poured into an Ommegang glass.

A - 5-Fingers of creamy head were produced on my vigorous pour. It dissipated very slowly. The beer is a dark golden brown with lots of cloud and haze.

S - Tons of big wheat notes, roasted malts and dry yeast. I’m getting a sweet fruit like mango or apples.

T - MMMM. Some sort of leaf like parsley and basil is here first followed by a sweet fruity wheat taste. Very delicious.

M - 60/40 carbonation on a mouth swish. Light bodied and no big lingering taste aside from wheat.

O - This is a solid beer and very local to me. I’ll buy it again.

Growler from the Brewery. Used a weizen glass. Pored a hazy orange nearly copper like hue. Very small thin head. Looks a bit darker than most hefe’s. Nose of malts, light banana and clove Taste is an nice blend of sweet malt, yeast and light banana essence. A nice take on a German style. The yeast does give it a Bavarian type body and taste. Lighter in body which for this beer isn’t a bad thing, gives it high drinkability. Excellent on warm day however I could drink this anytime of the year.
