Cask at the Harwich & Parkeston Winter Ale Fextival 2017. Rating #4000, Brewery #2043. Pours very dark brown with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of coffee, malt, chocolate, moderate roasting, dark fruit and brown sugar. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight oily and watery texture, soft to fine carbonation. Finish is dry, fruity with lasting roasted peanut chocolate. Could benefit from a little more body but otherwise pretty good.

Tap. Rutland Arms, Sheffield. 6.5%. 50IBU. Dark, chestnut brown. Thick, frothy, lasting, tan head. Nose has coffee truffles. Praline. Roast coffee. Taste is light, coffee bitterness. Turns fairly dry. Smooth mouthfeel. Might have preferred this on cask, though. This is a little over fizzy. Light bitter finish. Decent, but I was expecting more depth.

Craft Holborn. Cask. Almost opaque brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and dry. Smooth dark malts, mild roast. Little.dry lactose - malt cream. Dry powdery licorice, bitter. Whisper of citrus before the.dry finish. Mild spicy linger. The bar staff love this beer but I found it pretty dry if quite tasty.
