On tap at CBC, pours a deep dark amber brown with a small tan head. Aroma of dark dried fruits, some caramel, and bready malts. Flavour of caramel, dark dried fruits, and some bready malts. Medium bodied and quite caramely. Pretty old Belgian Strong -- seems more like a scotch ale.

On tap @ Henrik. This is a deep dark ruby brown one with a small fading and eventually islandy beige top. Shockingly subtle on the aroma. Hard to get anything except only subtle traces of chocolate and something kinda sour. The taste is something completely different! Tart is a good description. Dry, tart woody with cocoa nibs, rested sour gooseberries and traces of cold coffee with chocolate paper. It has a near cloudy, full-bodied mouthfeel with a small prickling carbonation level. It feels balanced and I'm noticing that I'm really enjoying drinking this. Almost no traces of the relatively high alcohol percentage. Won't be surprised if I suddenly buy another one of this. 08.03.2013 4-3-8-5-16
On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013. A deep dark ruby red one with a lovely looking big dense reddish head. Smells Flemmish alright, sour berries, sweet syrupy sugar and wood. Really tasty as well. Lovely tart and dryish. Oily on the palate and about average on the carbonation. Lots of woody flavors, a bit astringent perhaps, nuts, red berries, sour,, dandelions and grape seeds. Definitely interesting and quite good. 04.05.2013 6-3-6-4-15

On tap @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours dark amber, with a big creamy head. Aroma is fruity with plums and blackcurrants, as well as kandi and a whiff of oak. Flavour is moderately sour with oaky notes, as well as ripe plums, succade, apples and wine grapes, and a bit farm yard added with a light funky yeast. Nice, but could do with a bit more sourness and an added dose of funkiness.

On tap at Amundsen as Lervig Grand Cru. Clear deep ruby with an off-white to beige head. Aroma of red berries, malt, spices and caramel with some yeasty notes. Sweet and lightly sour with a quite dry, lightly bitter and sour finish. Nice balance between sweet and sour. Surprisingly easy to drink, alcohol is hardly noticeable. Nice!

On tap @ Cardinal. Dark amber, almost black in body with a medium sized tan head. Aroma has malt, brown sugar, dry fruit and hint of mild acidity. Nice flavor of sweet malt, brown sugar, dry fruit, chocolate, slightly sour berries, some spices and moderate bitterness. Fine body and a long, pleasant aftertaste with sweet malt, fruit, some acidity and more evidence spices. Balanced and very pleasant in flavor, not really to be considered as a sour ale, more like a sweet, strong ale with some kind of acidity. A nice beer whatsoever. The high alcohol is suprisingly well hidden.

On tap at Cardinal. It pours a small, light beige head over a black body. At least very dark brown. It is lightly sourish on the nose, with figs, dark berries, notes of coffee and chocolate and something more on the mocha side. It’s soft on the palate, lightly tart, pleasantly carbonated and medium to full bodied. Dried fruits, roasted malts, bitter chocolate and some herbal notes in the flavour. After a while it’s certainly more on the spiced side than the herbal side. Lightly metallic on the end. A really pleasant one, well suited for a sour ale newbie. And for the seasoned veteran. 121022
