For our 30th Anniversary, we’re reintroducing Hammerhead Speedway Stout. Aged in bourbon barrels and inspired by the bold Hammerhead coffee drink—a shot of espresso added to brewed coffee—this imperial stout is brewed with a blend of crushed Ethiopian and espresso beans for an intense coffee flavor. Bourbon barrel aging adds layers of vanilla, spice, and dried fruit for a rich, full-bodied brew.

Black with a somewhat fizzy dark tan head. Molasses, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, earthy. Finish has some sweet alcohol and roasted notes. Much thinner body than expected- I’d say medium to medium-thin. This does not live up to the Speedway Stout name.

(This is the entry I chose for my rating of the 2025 edition. My can also says 13.46% abv)

Can pour shared by ClarkVV--thanks, Clark at OT Camp tasting. Virtually opaque brown, ring of head, nice viscosity. Aroma is strong coffee, vanilla, trace of barrel. Taste is strong roasted coffee, milder vanilla, late hint of barrel. Smooth, frothy texture, soft carbonation, no sign of alcohol, lightly bitter finish.

Canned 6/14/25, drunk 9/20/25.
Clear, dark. Creamy, light tan head. Low retention.
This one almost has a respectable barrel character but not quite. Is that sweet bourbon, no it's probably just sugary, unfermented malt. No alcohol. Coffee is done pretty well. Earthy and crusty, lightly fruity.
Is that coffee or bourbon? Hard to be sure. Some light syrupiness to the body though still on the thinner side. Espresso, vanilla, possibly barrel, no alcohol. Just wholly mediocre in every aspect.
