Back in 2019 our good friend and all-round brewing God Colin Stronge came back for a visit in his new guise a Head Brewer at SALT brewery. We made a delicious Schwarzbier. We then put some of it into Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels and it became sensational. Unfortunately this was March 2020, and everyone was distracted. So we've made it again, and this is it, minus the distractions. We've come full circle... again.

Can from Westhill Service Station. Shared on perhaps my late day or RB rating. It pours pretty near black with a small khaki head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, oily, umami, liquorice, bitter toffee, bourbon soaked oak, nutty, praline, touch of pecan pie and cacao nibs. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, roasted, dark roasted malt, liquorice, umami, toasted brown bread, cacao nibs, chocolate bourbons, light toffee, bourbon soaked oak, touch of tannin, charred vibe, umami, liquorice and a touch of alcohol with a toasty, bourbony finale. Medium body and soft, fine carbonation. Really nice combo. Very interesting offering and moreish. Right up my street.
