Panda at home, thanks to Kenny, 28/01/2025.
Extremely dark mahogany brown verging on black topped with a thin khaki head that soon vanishes without a trace.
Nose is figgy pudding, dark malts, caramelised brown sugars, burnt toffee, boozy nostril dance, charr, stewed fruits.
Taste comprises raisins, prune juice, dates, figs, dark malts, spice, herbal elements, varnish, booze, toffee.
Full bodied and some, viscous oily feel, semi drying close with a hefty but balanced rising boost.
Solid sipper ... drinks mighty fine if this is 27%.

200ml bottle. Okay, Brewdog and Schorsbock have kept us entertained for years with this nonsense but, after all that experience, can they deliver something vaguely drinkable at 27%? Other brewers have for sure. Pretty much a clear dark brown beer, a few pale tan bubbles that last fractions of a second are hardly worth the mention. Smooth and slightly viscous palate, mildly dry, surprisingly good fine carbonation, much more than I was expecting. Well the alcohol grips from the get go, some heat and a lot of spice. Heady phenol nose which is partially replicated in the flavour. Spicy thin chocolate liqueur malts. Fairly ferocious bourbon soaked ripe fruits. Warming alcohol. Spicy alcohol fuelled dark malt finish. Long alcohol spicy linger. Overall a pretty good job. Ferocious yes but still recognisably a beer. Is it ground breaking? Well it's cutting edge in a long time view but both Struise and Mikkeller have done stronger and slightly more drinkable brews . This is still very impressive and leaves a hugely long linger of caramel, chocolate and warming bourbon and spice. Drinks pretty easy if you are used to drinking straight spirits. Overall an understandably pricey but flavoursome affair. Imagine a snow bound log lodge with a minus 10 to 15 temp outside. An open log fire, a dog at your feet. A good book in hand and a relaxed wife. This beers fits perfectly but maybe with a 500ml upgrade!

Bottle shared on Xmas day. It pours clear darkest brown with minimal head. The aroma is slick, oily, boozey warmth, heady notes of liquorice, liquorice, molasses, treacle, fruit cake, umami and toasted sesame. The taste is slick, oily, umami, bitter - sweet, chewy, toothy, big boozy slappy, molasses, malt loaf, slap in the face with booze, so much liquorice, liquorice allsorts and tannin with a drying finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth feel. Big a chewy. Enjoyable sipping ale.
