Cask at Thornbridge. It pours clear dark brown with a small tan head. The aroma is freshly ground coffee, earthy roast, creamy, milky, Russian campfire tea and cocoa. The taste is bitter-sweet, earthy roast, ashy, wood, leather, toasty, coffee grounds, robusta, mild acidity, cheap, chocolate and chewy malt with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit chewy and drying, but OK.

1/3 pint at Hanging Bat pours a murky brown/black with some creamy, beige head. Nose has malt, nuts, chocolate, mild toast. Flavor is sweet with chocolate, brown malt, a little rootbeer, toast. Finishes a bit silky.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Dark brown with a thick off-white creamy head. Milky and and smooth tasting, but there’s a grittiness to what roasted malts exist here.

Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 12/2/2016. Near black with a decent, beige, head. Milk chocolate, roasted malts and a sweetish finish, with a touch of a lactose tang. Enjoyable.

Cask @ Dada, Sheffield [190314] [From memory as notes lost] Black, tan head. Roasted coffee in this with a dark fairly sweet malt base, had a medium body, got the milk sugars giving it some richness. Good fairly bitter roast coffee. Remember this as pretty decent, liked it, but expected it to be better (as its a Thornbridge)...one i’d like to re-try

JDW Waterhouse, Manchester 24 Jan 13. Kjempedyprød / svart. Lavt mokkafarget skum som holder seg. Teppelacing. God aroma av vanilje & røstet malt. Antydning til kaffe. Myk munnfølelse. God smak av kaffe & sjokolade. Blir litt uforanderlig.
